# Bosch installation & re-fitting

### Some of what we repair was never installed properly

A dishwasher plumbed into a disposal with the knockout plug still in it. A drain hose pushed a foot down a standpipe so the machine siphons. A cooktop dropped into a counter with the ventilation gap filled by the drawer beneath it. A stacked pair on an unlevel floor with the shipping bolts still in. Every one of those produces symptoms that look exactly like a broken appliance, and none of them is one.

### European appliances, American cabinetry

This equipment is designed to metric openings and a lot of South Florida cabinetry is not, which is why replacing a built-in unit is more often a fitting job than a delivery. The two things worth checking before anything is bought are the opening and the ventilation clearance, and both take five minutes with a tape measure.

### High-rise realities

Service elevators booked in advance, certificates of insurance filed with the building, hours the association allows work to happen. We deal with all of it routinely, and it is worth mentioning when you book so the appointment is made around it rather than despite it.

What this involves

Built-in openings, panels and trim

Stacked laundry and closet installs

Correcting installations that never worked

Measured before anything is ordered

Opening width, depth, the ventilation gap, where the services come in. European appliances and American cabinetry disagree more often than anybody expects.

Services, properly

Water, drain and power connected to spec — the drain hose at the right height, the high loop where it belongs, the ventilation gap left open rather than filled.

Levelled and secured

Levelled in both directions, feet locked, anti-tip and stacking hardware fitted. A stacked pair that is not secured is not installed.

Run before we leave

A full cycle, watched, with the appliance pulled forward far enough to see underneath. Most installation leaks show themselves in the first hour or not for a month.
