Symptom

Bosch oven not heating

An oven that never warms up, or one that heats but sits well below the temperature it was set to. Those are different problems with different parts and quite different figures.

  • From $95 diagnostic, credited to the repair
  • 59 cities and neighborhoods covered
  • OEM parts available on order
  • In writing the price, before anything is opened

Five ordinary causes

What this usually turns out to be

Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.

In five minutes

Before you call anybody

None of it needs tools, and all of it makes the visit shorter.

  1. 01

Put an oven thermometer in it

At 350 and again at 450. An oven cool by the same amount at both is a calibration story; one that is fine at 450 and cool at 350 is not.

  2. 02

Look at the elements while it preheats

They should glow evenly. A blister, a break or a section that stays dark is your answer.

  3. 03

    Cut power for five minutes

At the breaker. Photograph any code first, because it will be gone afterwards.

  4. 04

Check the clock and any mode

A timed bake that has ended, a sabbath mode, or a demo mode from the showroom floor will all leave an oven that refuses to heat.

How it shows up

What people describe when they call

  • “No heat at all”
  • “Runs cool by a consistent amount”
  • “Takes far longer to preheat than it used to”
Dark kitchen with wood cabinetry and a black marble splashback under warm strip lighting

Two shortcuts

Narrow it down before anybody arrives

A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem, and the model number says which parts to bring. Either one shortens the visit; both together usually settle it.

About Bosch oven not heating

The fastest diagnosis is the code

These ovens publish a code for the temperature sensor specifically, which is unusually precise. If you have one, photograph it before cutting power — several of these codes clear at the breaker and are then gone for good.

Never hot, or never hot enough

No heat at all points at an element, a relay, or on a gas oven the igniter. Heat, but wrong points at the sensor or at calibration. The second pair are far apart in price and only a measurement separates them, which is why a thermometer in the cavity is worth more than any description.

What the codes add here

These ovens are unusually specific: the temperature sensor has its own code, the touch panel has its own, and communication between the two boards has its own. Several clear with five minutes off at the breaker — and it is always worth trying, because a code that survives that is a code that means something.

Questions about bosch oven not heating

It is exactly 25 degrees cool, every time.

That is the calibration conversation, and many of these ovens can be adjusted. It is the cheapest thing on this page and we check it first.

The oven works but the broiler does not.

Useful — that separates the two elements and their relays. Tell us which one when you book.

What is demo mode?

A showroom setting where the display works and nothing heats. It arrives with appliances bought from a floor model, and it is cleared with a specific sequence rather than a repair.
